Description
Esther Rabba and Ruth Rabba are the first midrashim on the Five Scrolls (they also include midrashim on the biblical books Shir ha-Shirim, Eichah, and Kohelet).
These works were extremely popular as early as the Middle Ages; today, virtually every Jewish author who writes or discusses the relevant books of Scripture refers to them.
Biblical verses were translated as closely as possible to the original text. At the same time, the reader is informed of differences between the traditional Jewish reading and the reading accepted in Russian culture.
In some cases, it was necessary to expand quotations abbreviated in the original (such additions are indicated in square brackets), as well as to clarify the context of certain quotations and references.
The book was published in Russian in 2021 by Knizhnik and Lechaim publishing houses, with the participation of F.R.E.E. Publishing House.
