Description
Yoshe Kalb is a novel by Israel Joshua Singer (1893–1944), one of the most prominent Jewish authors of the 20th century.
The novel tells a story of human passions, inner struggles, confusion, and ultimately, choice. The author masterfully conveys the inner experiences of his characters, creating a strong sense of presence and striving not so much to justify them as to understand them.
The story unfolds against the backdrop of vivid artistic depictions of Hasidic communities in Galicia and Russia in the second half of the 19th century.
The book was published in Russian in 2015 by Knizhniki Publishing House. Translation by Asya Fruman.
