Description
This picture book tells a humorous and engaging traditional tale about a prince who rejects the luxury of his royal life in favor of living as a rooster.
The only person able to persuade the prince to reconsider is not a doctor or a magician, but a wise teacher who is willing to become a rooster as well. The story was passed down to the author by her grandmother, who brought it from Eastern Europe over a century ago.
The tale is accompanied by witty and graceful illustrations that add a distinct folkloric flavor. Includes the author's note.
The book was published in Russian in 2017 by Knizhniky Publishing House. Color illustrations by Evgeny Yelchin.
